NaNoWriMo: 3 days, 9 hours and 47 minutes to go

Every November since 2008 I've gone temporarily insane and attempted to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. With a little (fine, a lot of) word-count padding, I succeeded in 2009.

It's truly terrible. This is the only copy that exists. No-one will ever read it. Not even me. And I just realised the white and yellow book on the right of the photo is my copy of No Plot? No Problem! By Chris Baty, the NaNoWriMo founder. Should have included that in the photo.. It was a decent part of why even that one copy of my book exists and regardless of how awful it is, I'm still proud I finished it. Also, yes, I know, my bookshelf is rather eclectic. It gets worse. I should probably dust it occasionally too. Maybe in December.

Emily

My little sister had a birthday this week (so did my Aunty and my sister's boyfriend had his two weeks ago but they didn't pull cute faces for me)

Camera

I currently use a Nikon D40. I've had it for over three years now and it was discontinued not long after I got it. I want to get more serious about photography so I decided to get a Nikon D7000.

DSC_1668

I opened the box on Friday and it was all shiny and pretty and exciting. I put my 35mm lens on it and tried to take a photo. Then I realised a battery and an SD card would probably make that particular endevour a little more successful! So I charged the battery and put in the SD card. And just about fell over trying to comprehend all the settings and buttons! It's like learning to use a DSLR all over again!

So now I have to go read the manual. Which is the size of a decent novel.

At least I have some company/a willing test subject :)

Kingscliff (again)

We had last week off work so we wandered back down to Kingscliff.

DSC_1085

I forgot my thongs so I got some new ones (and a new bracelet just because) in Byron Bay.

DSC_1158

And a skateboard because I'm awesome.

DSC_1196

We played Lego games. I lost :(

DSC_1338

I built my nanoblock dog.

DSC_1302

And for some silly reason I decided getting up at 4:30am to see the sunrise was a great idea. It was the first time I've actually gotten up (not stayed up all night) just to see the sunrise. And take photos!

On our way to the beach.

My pack horse.. He left his hoodie in the car so he was freezing!

Sunrise!

DSC_1392

I got distracted by seagull footprints :)

Seagulls :)

DSC_1413

Mission accomplished :)

DSC_1510

It was too early for breakfast so we went bunny hunting. They've grown since last time. Bunny!

DSC_1545

And found some galahs.

DSC_1564

Then this guy came and posed outside the window while we were having breakfast. Bunny!

DSC_1601

We did other stuff too but most of my photos are of bunnies....

Dad's 60th - Part 3

Saturday night was the extended family and friends dinner for Dad. We went to the Lighthouse Restaurant at Cleveland.

The lighting was bad so a lot of photos looked better on my camera than they do on my computer :( Pretty sure I know what I was doing wrong though. Anyway, balloons!

DSC_0944

My first attempt at shaped bokeh. They're supposed to be stars..

Three generations.. Nan, Em and Mum.

I had Barramundi.. My cousin Bradley is in the background trying to photobomb. Shallow depth of field ftw!

Mum and Nan's dessert. I was too full to have my own so I made them wait for me to take photos :p

Mum got Dad a black poodle cake like Bailey!

Happy Birthday Dad :)

Dad's 60th - Part 2

Saturday morning we all went up to the Q1 observation deck on the 77th floor for breakfast. I'm not real good with heights so I tried not to think about it too much.

So much glass..

The outside walk for those not afraid of heights.. Makes my feet tingle just looking at the photo!

Had to stand with my back against the windows for this one.. The things we do for photos.

We were all the way up there! My feet are still tingling.

Dad's 60th - Part 1

Dad turned 60 on Friday so Mum booked us into the Q1 for the night.

On the way there we had a few errands to run. First we had to drop these guys off at the pet store. We love them but we can't keep them anymore. I hope they find a good home.

DSC_0676

Then we had to pick up the cake from Madisons Cafe. Bokeh!

DSC_0720

We went out to a Teppanyaki place for dinner, I'd never been before, it was great!

DSC_0748

Our chef's name was Geoff, the same as my Dad :)

DSC_0750

He recognised Nathan's aversion to vegetables. Nathan was pleased. Then moved the piece of onion onto my plate.
