Dad's 60th - Part 3

Saturday night was the extended family and friends dinner for Dad. We went to the Lighthouse Restaurant at Cleveland.

The lighting was bad so a lot of photos looked better on my camera than they do on my computer :( Pretty sure I know what I was doing wrong though. Anyway, balloons!

My first attempt at shaped bokeh. They're supposed to be stars..

Three generations.. Nan, Em and Mum.

I had Barramundi.. My cousin Bradley is in the background trying to photobomb. Shallow depth of field ftw!

Mum and Nan's dessert. I was too full to have my own so I made them wait for me to take photos :p

Mum got Dad a black poodle cake like Bailey!

Happy Birthday Dad :)

Dad's 60th - Part 2

Saturday morning we all went up to the Q1 observation deck on the 77th floor for breakfast. I'm not real good with heights so I tried not to think about it too much.

So much glass..

The outside walk for those not afraid of heights.. Makes my feet tingle just looking at the photo!

Had to stand with my back against the windows for this one.. The things we do for photos.

Dad's 60th - Part 1

Dad turned 60 on Friday so Mum booked us into the Q1 for the night.

On the way there we had a few errands to run. First we had to drop these guys off at the pet store. We love them but we can't keep them anymore. I hope they find a good home.

Then we had to pick up the cake from Madisons Cafe. Bokeh!

We went out to a Teppanyaki place for dinner, I'd never been before, it was great!

Our chef's name was Geoff, the same as my Dad :)

He recognised Nathan's aversion to vegetables. Nathan was pleased. Then moved the piece of onion onto my plate.

Photo-A-Day

So I do this thing every day where I take a photo (usually) based on a list of prompts. Here's how to play. I take (most) photos with my iPhone and edit them with Instagram then upload them to Facebook. Some of them are pretty average given that I work five days a week so on those days I'm either at work or at home which gets a bit boring after five months, but some are pretty good. I've uploaded all of my favourites to my Flickr account here and added a few below.

Brisbane Festival

Last night we went to see S by Circa at Southbank as part of the Brisbane Festival

DSC_0425

First we had dinner at Grill'd

DSC_0430

I had a caesar salad that was mysteriously missing the croutons..

DSC_0441

We still had time so I had some fun with bokeh!

DSC_0455

And we wandered around under the lanterns

DSC_0459

And checked out all the lights

DSC_0463

The show was alright. I was a little disappointed. I expected a certain level of grace, effortlessness and commitment from professional performers but the choreography and the execution were both a bit clumsy. There were some cool acrobatic tricks but that was the best I could say for it unfortunately.

Afterwards we got ice-cream and wandered down to the other end of Southbank where we found this:

Just mirrors, white gravel and some green lights but it created a pretty cool effect

So the show was disappointing but it was a nice night out anyway :)
