The Book Depository is one of my favourite sites on the internet. I recommend them to EVERYONE. They have great prices and free shipping everywhere! They sent me a handful of their new Quotemarks so I spent an afternoon photographing some of my favourite quotes from my favourite books. Click on the links to see the books on their site. Every order comes with your very own Quotemark! Share it with #LoveThisQuote for a chance to win a book! More info here.

My life in one word right now. After buying my first DSLR after watching Veronica Mars (seriously, and how awesome is it that they're making a movie!) and spending years taking photos of my polymer clay creations and Bailey and family gatherings, I'm now working as a photographer for Shop Fashion Avenue taking photos like this:

And this:

And turning this:                                                              Into this:

And it's kind of awesome. And totally crazy. And completely terrifying. But I love it.

It's making life kind of nuts though. So I've decided to drop one of my 365 Projects. Some days I don't see Bailey and other days I take incredible photos of him and nothing else so I'm dropping Daily Bailey. Which doesn't mean there will be less photos of him, just fewer bad ones and maybe not one every day. He's still completely adorable and my favourite muse.

I finally figured out this whole Kickstarter thing late last year and have backed 10(!) successful projects so far with pledges on a number that are still running. So here's my five favourite Kickstarter projects running right now:

5. Find a Film Movie Poster - A poster that helps you decide what movie to watch. I love this idea and the execution, I'm just not sure where I would put it.

4. Stripped - A documentary on comics including interviews with some of my favourite cartoonists. I haven't committed to backing this one yet, mostly because I can't decide which level! Probably the $20 (digital download) level.

3. NeoDrop - A cool little magnetic display. Pledged at the $50 (no shipping!) level for one in each colour - one for my desk, one for someone else's :)

2. Luxi - An incident light meter adapter for iPhone. This little gadget helps the iPhone mimic a real light meter and any light meter app will tell you what settings to use on your camera to get a correct exposure. I'm backing at the $17 ($22 with shipping) level.

1. The Veronica Mars Movie Project - I love Veronica Mars and this is just such a cool project anyway. I'm backing at the $200 ($210 with shipping) level now that most of the rewards have finally opened up to international backers. I missed out on the premiere tickets levels :(

A few weeks ago I bugged my little sister to go photoshoot location scouting with me for work. This new tower (and a whole bunch of other stuff) has popped up at Kangaroo Point since the last time I was there.

And through the tower.

Love this wall.

A few weeks ago I ordered a CamRanger! It plugs into my Nikon D7000 and lets me take photos with it from my iPad/iPhone from up to 45m away!

In the box:
  • CamRanger
  • Case
  • Camera connecter cable
  • Charging cable
  • Wall plug for charging
  • Battery
  • Network cable
  • Instructions
So.. straight up, the wall plug is American and seeing as the CamRanger only works with iOS devices anyway and they all come with their own usb wall plug? Kinda redundant and a waste of shipping. Especially for those of us not in America.

Secondly, the CamRanger label is a sticker and the serial number sticker on the back was dirty around the edges which was disappointing for $300 plus $40 shipping. Picky, I know, but it dulled the excitement for me and made it look a bit cheap. Anyway, onto the photos!

The interface. Forgive the infinte mirror effect. I took the photo with my iPad while controlling it from my iPad. The app is free in the Apple store.

And again just for fun.

The focusing took a bit to suss.

But I figured it out with some help. (It was a hot day and I'd just woken up and even that can't excuse the state of my hair.)

The camera has to operate in Live Mode to show the image on the iPad which is kinda the whole point (besides changing settings on the fly) because otherwise my $25 remote would work just as well but Live Mode means there's a significant delay between hitting Capture and the photo being taken which means I can do things like this:

Look, no hands!

My verdict: fun, but I'm still waiting for an opportunity for it to prove it's worth.

Day 13

So this 365 thing.. My idea? Ha.. It's not that it's going badly. It's going too well! Every day I have too many photos to choose from! Here's a few that didn't make the cut just from yesterday. Go here or here to see the ones that did and check back later for today's photos :)

Project 365(s)

Happy New Year!

Photo-A-Day prompts got too messy so this year I've decided to go with Project 365 - one photo a day, every day of the year. Then I figured because most of those would be of Bailey I should do one for him and one for my non-Bailey photos! So..
